The Mariner of the Seas is part of Royal Caribbean’s Voyager class and combines a wide range of leisure activities with the comfortable size of a classic resort ship. Thanks to its extensive modernisation, it looks considerably newer than its year of construction would suggest. The centrepiece on board is the lively Royal Promenade, with shops, cafés and bars, which winds its way through the ship like a small promenade.

The FlowRider surf simulator and the two water slides – Typhoon and Cyclone – from The Perfect Storm provide plenty of action. There’s also a climbing wall, mini-golf, a sports pitch, laser tag and an escape room. A special feature is the ice rink in Studio B, which also hosts elaborate shows. Families will find plenty to keep them occupied with Adventure Ocean and a range of leisure activities, whilst the adults-only solarium offers a quieter retreat.

The Mariner also offers a varied selection of dining options. In addition to the Main Dining Room and Windjammer, options include Chops Grille, Jamie’s Italian and Izumi Hibachi & Sushi. For a relaxing drink or an entertaining evening, there’s the Polynesian-inspired Bamboo Room, the Playmakers Sports Bar and numerous other bars and lounges.

With its successful blend of action, entertainment and relaxation, the Mariner offers many classic Royal Caribbean experiences, whilst remaining considerably more manageable than the huge ships of the Oasis and Icon classes.
